I just have to say that the food at this place is not even close to authentic Mexican food. This is a tex-mex place, and the food is as tex-mex as it can get, and I LOVED IT! I used to travel once a year to Grand Prarie from Utah, and eating at Don Juan's was a MUST! I love spicy so that habanero sauce always hit the spot....so GOOD! I think that if I ever come back to Grand Prarie, will be to sit down and enjoy the 5 crunchy tacos special with lots of their habanero sauce!
Just a classic taco joint in the heart of Grand Prairie. The daily specials are a bargain, especially on Thursday. 5 white people tacos for under 5? Yes, please! Add to that the spicy salsa bar, fair waring the salsa there has a bite. Table salsa does not. There's even a volcano out front that you can use at your own risk! I've never used it, but tell me if you do. Did you sacrifice a virgin? Win a middle school science fair? I can't wait to find out. If it's nice out, sit under the metal umbrellas out front, there's a cool echo when you learn in to talk! The Grand Prairie Historical Commision has even designated this place as a "Significant Landmark." If you come here, be sure to tell them I sent you. It won't get you anything, but it will be fun to have an inside joke between the two of us.
The food has always been awesome at this place. My memories of Don Jauns exist from when I was a teen in the 80s and worked there as a cook and my mom working day shift with owners Clyde Golden and Jim Parker. The menu has grown somewhat , but the quality is the same, outstanding. It is not hard to understand why Don Jauns had been around for so long in Grand Prairie. It is a part of Grand Prairie itself. I do have a little story to tell about Don Juan's. My parents' very first date was this restaurant, Don Juan's. Not only that, my stepsons first job was this restaurant. It has been here in Grand Prairie for more than 50 years. I do go on Thursday to get the special. 5 hard shell tacos for 5. Can't bet it. They have a special every day of the week.

Adorable historical taco restaurant. Most of the food is the same ingredients in different shapes... But so it most Mexican food. Over all really tasty! Wonderful people, cute atmosphere.
I'm rating 5 stars solely because of their Thursday taco special! Our office gets it every week. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, so I can't say if other items are good. It's been around for a long time, so that speaks to how the folks in GP feel about the place!
